Region
Confolens was built around a fortress first mentioned in the eleventh century. It still has picturesque remnants of its medieval past, including city walls and several houses dating from the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries. It also features a bridge first mentioned in the fourteenth century.
La Vallee des Singes (monkey world) is a great place for all ages. Wander from islet to islet in this parkland setting and mingle with some of the 30 different species of monkeys, lemurs and other animals who are roaming free around the park.

La Maison Blanche is a 200 year old Charentaise house open all year round and located in the small quiet hamlet of Chassenay. Chassenay is situated in the pretty region of the Charente surrounded by rolling countryside, 9kms north of the medieval town of Confolens, along the river Vienne.
You will receive a warm welcome from Christine and Alex, who will be happy to share their knowledge of the region, whether you are house hunting or just taking a relaxing holiday.
Enjoy our peaceful garden where you can take your meals on those lovely sunny days. We also have a BBQ area and plenty of space to relax on loungers or the hammock in the shade of the warm sun. On those cooler days you can warm up by our wood burning stove or unwind in our quiet Guest Lounge where you can read our selection of books and magazines.
